The goal of the Sound Solutions Program
is to reduce the level of aircraft related noise within the
interior of the home.
Participation in the program is voluntary.
Approximately 500 homes are eligible for
sound insulation treatments.
The FAA has set a goal of reducing noise
for eligible residents to DNL 45 decibels and by at least 5
decibels inside the home a noticeable reduction in noise
level.
Treatment methods may include replacement
of windows and doors and upgrade and/or installation of air
conditioning systems.
Priority of service will be given to homes
within the highest noise impacted areas.
There are no out-of-pocket expenses for
the sound insulation treatments for eligible participants.
Construction in the home will take about
15 working days.
Only habitable areas within the home will
be treated. This excludes garages, porches, etc.
Each program participant must sign an avigation
and noise easement to the A.B. Won Pat Guam International Airport
Authority.
An inspector will work with the homeowner
to ensure that all work is performed to their satisfaction.
Contractors are required to return the
home to its pre-construction condition.
A contractor should not remove an existing
window or door without completing installation of a new door
or window on the same day.
All products come with a labor and/or product
guarantee.
