Introduction

Hafa Adai! The A.B. Won Pat Guam International Airport Authority (GIAA) is continually working to meet the needs of our growing tourism industry and recognizes that the Airport and aviation are important to the future of our island. While keeping on track with the growth in Guam's tourism industry, GIAA recognized the potential impact that aircraft noise can have on local homeowners. In an effort to minimize the impact of such aircraft noise, GIAA created its Residential Sound Solutions Program.

The intention of the Sound Solutions Program is to reduce the impact of aircraft noise on the communities surrounding the Airport. This Program is the culmination of several years of effort by the Airport, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and the community.

The first step in the process is the implementation of the Pilot Phase that will involve the sound insulation of approximately 30 homes in the most noise impacted areas. The goal of the Pilot Phase is to examine the effectiveness of various sound insulation measures on different housing types in the surrounding airport area. The Pilot Phase participants will play an important role in shaping the Program for the long term.
